Ike and Ava played in their first T-ball game. Except here, there's no tee. Crazy but true. They let the kids hit live balls for five tries, then they break out the tee. This is long and tedious. Let's face it, at the kindergarten level, some of these kids have a hard time hitting off the tee.
Ike and Ava did great though. They even ran the right direction. I think from watching soooooo many of their sister's games, they've got the basics down. Practice with Dad in the yard helps too.
They were so proud. The best part of t-ball -- snacks. After every game, you get a good snack. Today was Sunny D and Smuckers Crustables, two products their cheap mom refuses to buy. They were in kindergarten heaven.

Sacagawea
Sa-ca-ga-way-uh. That is the official pronounciation of the Indian girl guide. Paige performed an excellent presentation. She wore no shoes because on the long, cold journey, Sacagawea wore no shoes. Can you imagine leading a bunch of tea-totalling men through the woods without shoes. Ouch!
Such an interesting character is Sacagawea, that Paige's best buddy also choose to be her. Hmmm, I wonder who choose first? Still, they both turned out to be the cutest Indian girls in the gym.

Home Tour -- My Room
I went pretty boring in our room. Beige on beige with a dash of cream. I know this seems quite boring, but with so much color in the rest of the house, I needed a blank spot for me. Somewhere sparse and boring to relax. Besides, shouldn't I be the star of this room. ; 0 )
My bed is great. I love my bargain bin bedspread. So shiny and satiny. I also "love" all the junk cluttered on my husbands bedstand. I even cleaned this up for photo purposes. I swear, if I weren't around to control it, he'd end up on an episode of Hoarders. If something should happen to me, those whom love me, please come by once a month for a general sweep through.
My room also has the tiniest of bathrooms. There is a dinky, stand-up shower on the other side, but I couldn't really squeeze far enough to the right to get a good angle. Still, small is far better than none.

Clara Barton
My third graders are part of the Living History Musuem. Such a great idea. Each kid picks a historical hero they admire, someone who changed the world. Then they study that person and write a report. After that, they come up with a 30-60 second speech in first person perspective and dress-up just like their hero. The outfit must include an "on" button. Then as you travel around the museum, patrons can press the on button and the animatronics come to life.
Claire choose Clara Barton, the founder of the American Red Cross. She initially choose her because her name was Clara, but after she studied her, she was excited by this ladies path in life. A good way to round out the end of the year.
*Look for Sacagawea next week.

Crazy Bird
If you have never had the chance to raise a kooky kid like Ava, I'm sorry for you. She makes me laugh with all her uniqueness. My mom had bought the girls all p.j.'s with matching sleeping masks for Easter. Ava actually wears hers every night. I giggle as I tuck the covers up around her and Holly and have these huge, bluebird eyes stare back at me. She leaves us all in stitches without even trying.
